Fire Prevention:

 

  • Check appliance cords and light switches to ensure there is no faulty wiring.

  • Never overload electrical outlets.

  • Turn appliances off when not in use.

  • Ensure there is space for ventilation around televisions, stereos CPU’s and other entertainment equipment.

  • Store lighters and matches out of the reach of children.

  • Do not smoke in bed.

  • Be sure your property is clear of all dry weeds, tree branches and litter. Especially during the dry season .

  • Do not wear long sleeves, baggy clothes, neckties or loose hair when cooking with an open flame.

  • Turn the handles of your pots inward to prevent them from being knocked over.

  • Never put metals such as aluminum in a microwave oven.

  • Butane tanks should be kept in open areas and should often be checked for leaks.

  • Buildings should be equipped with fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems and smoke detectors
